Cummins Inc. is a Fortune 500 corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products. Cummins also services engines and related equipment, including fuel systems, controls, air handling, filtration, emission control and electrical power generation systems. Headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, United States, Cummins sells in approximately 190 countries and territories through a network of more than 600 company-owned and independent distributors and approximately 6,000 dealers. Cummins reported net income of $1.64 billion on sales of $17.3 billion in 2012.

• One of the first foreign diesel engine companies to establish engine production in China.

1975- The former C.E.O. of Cummins J. Irwin Miller visited China, he then started an ongoing business relationship between Cummins and China.

1979- Cummins established their first Chinese office in Beijing.

1981- Cummins signed an agreement with Sinotruk, and started to produce high horse power diesel engines,  N and K series engines.

1986 -Under license of Cummins USA, the diesel engine factory of Dongfeng Automobile Company started to produce  B series diesel engines. 

1994- The joint venture of  Shanghai Fleetguard Filter Co., Ltd  was established and started production of filters.

1995- The joint venture of Chongqing Cummins engine Co., Ltd(CCEC) was established in Chongqing and started production of Cummins N, M and K series diesel engines and generator sets.

1996 -The joint venture of Dongfeng Cummins engine Co., Ltd(DCEC) was established in Xiangyang and started production of B, C and L series diesel engines.

1996 -The joint venture of Wuxi Newage Alternators Ltd. was established and started production of Stamford alternators for generator sets.

1996 -The joint venture of Wuxi Holset Engineering Co., Ltd was established and started production of Turbochargers.

1996 -The sole venture of Cummins Engine Company(Beijing) Ltd. was established and started production of  Cummins Dynasty Generator sets.

1997 -The Cummins Engine(China) Investment Company Ltd was established in Beijing. In charge of management for all Cummins operations in China. It is also the head office of Cummins in East Asia.

1999 -The sole venture of Cummins Xiangfan Machine Co., Ltd was established. 

2003 -Cummins and Dongfeng expanded their investment of DCEC. Making DCEC the biggest the most advanced diesel engine production plant in China.

2005 -Cummins East Asia Research & Development Center established in Wuhan, which was the first development center of a foreign company in China.

2006 -The joint venture of Foton Cummins Engine Company Co., Ltd. was established in Beijing and started production of ISF 2.8 and ISF 3.8 diesel engines for vehicles.

2007 -The joint venture of Xi’an Cummins Engine Company Co., Ltd. was established in Xian and started production of ISM series 11 litre Electronic control diesel engines for heavy trucks.

2009 -Cummins Power Generation(China) Company Ltd moved to Wuhan and expanded production of generator sets, diesel engines for generator sets and ATS(automatic transfer switching equipment).

2010-Cummins become the partner of USA Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo.

2011-Cummins celebrate 25th Anniversary with Dongfeng.

2012-Cummins authorized Jianghao Power as OEM partner.

2013-Shanghai Fleetguard Filter Co.,Ltd put into production formally in Wuhan.

2014-Cummins 6 Cylinder engine from 190hp to 675hp meet EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV.
